For 36 years Live Oak Music Festival has been the premier music and community event in San Luis Obispo for folk, acoustic and related music appreciators.  KCBX and volunteers go all out to put on a world class event. As good as Live Oak is, I believe there are some missed opportunities.  Live Oak used to broadcast the entire festival via a dedicated on-site FM station and we used to record nearly all of the music performed on the various stage.  Neither of those activities is being done anymore, at least not in any meaningful way.

I have been doing a lot of thinking about these lost opportunities.  I believe Live Oak could start broadcasting and recording again in efficient ways that could get the job done, not cost a dime (in fact bring in money) and require minimal volunteer time.  Below are links for three web pages I have created with my thoughts on how we could broadcast the festival, record most of the performances and utilize our vast archives to could keep the Live Oak spirit alive all year long.

Why is this important? It is important because the music is important and the event is important.  Music is our passion and we are not doing that passion justice if we restrict how we disseminate the music and if once the last notes echo from Cuesta Ridge we have nothing of the music saved.
